Eagles QB Vick was proved to be innocent
The Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick will report for the team’s training camp on time and play his backup role for starter Kevin Kolb just as scheduled, because the league announced that investigation resulted in no evidence of Vick shooting at his 30th birthday party. A lot of speculations were ended by the announcement, and Vick will stay with the Eagles for one another season, neither to be released nor to be traded.
Now we may have a look back on how Vick got involved into the trouble. He went to a restaurant in Virginia Beach to celebrate his 30th birthday with a group of friends in Brett Favre jerseys and allegedly left the scene before a shooting happened out site the restaurant. What made him more like suspect was that the man in Saints jersey being shot was Vick’s co-defendant in the dogfighting case. The well-known case put Vick in jail for 18 months and led to a long suspension from the NFL.
As local police made it clear that Vick was not the shooter, the quarterback does not have to face any arrest now and the league will neither punish him with a suspension, which was expected by many people when Vick was suspected to be the shooter. The Eagles, who have always been insisting that they would not release Vick, now proved that they were right.

Ravens showed intention to win title by signing QB Bulger
The former St. Louis Rams starting quarterback Marc Bulger was signed by the Baltimore Ravens last week as an unrestricted free agent. While it was taken as addition of a more threatening weapon, adding such an experienced veteran quarterback also showed the Ravens’ intention to win a title in the new season.
Such conclusion was supported by another report on Ravens’ plan to use Bulger as a backup for Joe Flacco. Just think if the Vikings quarterback in No.4 Brett Favre jersey will return to backup Tarvaris Jackson, what a team the Vikings will be. The veteran will not only help the younger quarterback to improve but also offers the team a great insurance.
"I don't want to be the guy that comes in here and thinks I know it all and put too much on him," Bulger, wearing his favorite Archie Manning jersey, said on a conference call on July 15. "I'm going to let Joe let me know how much input he wants me to give.”
At age 33, Bulger knows well he may have less strong arm than a younger quarterback, so he is glad to be paid $3.8 million to backup a talented young starter. He was never a Favre style of quarterback and always knows where he should be at different times.

Raiders’ veteran DE Seymour may not receive new contract this season
The Oakland Raiders veteran defensive end Richard Seymour is unlikely to get a new long-term contract this season as it’s only hours left before the league’s deadline for franchise tagged players to sign new contract. Seymour will not be allowed to sign multi-year contract until this season ends if he does not receive one before the deadline.
The deadline is set on Thursday, and if no contract is reached by that time, Seymour will have to play under his current one-year contract that was offered by the Raiders earlier this offseason after giving him the franchise tag during his free agency. By using the franchise tag on Seymour, the Raiders did not only prevent the player from putting on his favorite Minnesota Vikings jersey, but also kept the right to keep the free agent for another season without paying much more than a standard salary..
Being drafted by the New England Patriots in 2001 as a sixth overall pick, Seymour spent all his first eight seasons with the Patriots before being traded to the Raiders last offseason. He came to be a starter and started every game of the 2009 season, finishing it with 47 tackles, 4 sacks and one forced fumble.

Eagles rookie WR Cooper received career-first contract
The Philadelphia Eagles announced on Tuesday that their rookie wide receiver Riley Cooper was signed to a four-year contract. As a result, the Eagles have signed all but two draft picks from the 2010 NFL draft, leaving defensive end Brandon Graham and safety Nate Allen unsigned.
The rookie wide receiver was from Florida and is one of 13 draft picks the Eagles had as they make the transition from a veteran team to one driven by some young stars. They traded former starting quarterback Donovan McNabb to the Washington Redskins and promoted backup quarterback Kevin Kolb to be the starter. As a fifth-round pick, Cooper was previously expecting to put on Saints jersey to start his NFL career. The two-sport standout was also selected for twice in the Major League Baseball draft, but he seems to prefer football. Although failing to draw interest from his favorite team, he was still glad to join the Eagles.
Beside making a plan to sign or release the remaining two unsigned draft picks, the Eagles also need to decide on whether to keep backup quarterback Michael Vick for another season. The former Falcons star quarterback was recently involved into off-field trouble again and may face suspension and imprisonment again if he pleaded guilty.

Jets CB Revis will lose big money if he holds out
The New York Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis was reported last week to have plan of sitting out the team’s training camp if the Jets do not reach a decision on his contract extension. However, if he really insists on doing that, he is going to lose about $20 million on bonus money, which was scheduled to be paid in 2011 and 2012 if he stays with the team all the time.
The Jets training camp is planned to open on Aug. 10, and Revis has been making effort to receive a new contract extending his current rookie contract. Other reports pointed out that Revis will have the right to ask for a considerable contract extension after the fourth season of his current deal. By then, the Jets will have to buy back the final two years at base salaries of $5 million in 2011 and $15 million in 2012.
Being drafted by the Jets in 2007 as a first-round pick, Revis is just entering his fourth career season, and he may have to end his vacation early to prepare for the upcoming season. I guess he will finally take off his favorite Brett Favre jersey and report for the training camp on August, 10. After all, who would like to turn down $20 million?

Veteran guard Vincent received contract from Bucs
Wearing his favorite Brett Favre jersey to meet the team officials of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, unrestricted free agent offensive guard Keydrick Vincent happily received his fifth contract in his NFL career. According to reports, the Buccaneers have signed the tenth-year veteran to a two-year contact after releasing another unrestricted free agent Sergio Render.
At age 32, Vincent had previously split his first nine NFL seasons with four different teams: the Carolina Panthers, the Arizona Cardinals, the Baltimore Ravens and Pittsburgh Steelers. Being the starting right guard with the Panthers for the last two seasons, Vincent led the team’s ground attack to rank the third in the league. With his help, the Panthers running backs DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Steward were both able to rush for more than 1,000 yards in the same season.
Now in his 10th NFL season, Vincent impressed the Buccaneers with a great resume, which includes starting 79 of 97 played games with four different games. That could be why the Buccaneers valued him more than Render and finally decided to sign him but cut Render.
