As backup running backs Ahmad Bradshaw and Danny Ware bother missed practice Wednesday, the New York Giants now have to prepare for playing this Sunday’s NFC East matchup with the Dallas Cowboys with only two healthy running backs available.
Starting running back Brandon Jacobs is healthy enough to play the game but he has not made satisfying performance this season, not reaching 100 yards rushing in a game. The other choice is rookie Gartrell Johnson, who has mostly played on special teams since being picked up on waivers after he was cut by the San Diego Chargers. In the six games he was active to play wearing Giants jersey, Johnson has had 11 carries for 39 yards.
Obviously the two running backs are not enough to play against the Cowboys. The team wishes Bradshaw could play Sunday after missing Thanksgiving night’s loss to the Denver Broncos. As for Ware, who suffered a concussion while playing against the Broncos, is not likely to play this Sunday’s game at all.
