Jets safety Rhodes paid for throwing ball where it shouldn’t go

Perhaps in purpose of expressing frustration, the New York Jets safety Rhodes threw the ball into the crowd at audience section while playing against the Carolina Panthers. The frustration may come from both throwing an interception and being demoted from the starting lineup.

And by expressing frustration in this way cost the safety $5,000. The league did not hesitate to fine the player for such behavior. The St. Louis Rams running back Steven Jackson did some similar thing to Rhodes and also received fine from the league Thursday.

Rhodes threw the ball wrongly after throwing his first interception in Sunday’s game, regardless whether there may be his fans wearing Panthers jersey. He later threw an interception again in Jets 17-6 win over the Panthers. And Jackson did it after his team lost to the Seattle Seahawks.
