Ravens CB Webb may miss final two games with sprained knee

The Baltimore Ravens cornerback Lardarius Webb sprained his right knee during Sunday’s game against the Chicago Bears. And the injury was serious enough to keep him out for the final two games of the season.

Webb had to leave Sunday’s game midway in the third quarter and was helped from the field by two trainers. Coach John Harbaugh said the initial report on Webb was not good, and his absence could be costly. Having started the past three games, Webb was the Ravens’ best cornerback. He was originally the replacement to Fabian Washington, who was unable to play though the season in his Ravens jersey because of a knee injury.

Webb has great speed and was becoming one of the team’s top tacklers despite his small size. The coaches were just beginning to feel comfortable with Webb and were thinking about matching him up with opponents’ top receivers, but now they have to plan to replace the player with veteran Frank Walker, who had a terrible training camp and has been picked on every time he enters a game. Anyway, he still has the experience and toughness to replace Webb as the starting cornerback.
