Kurt Warner is considering retirement

It seems that the Arizona Cardinals star quarterback Kurt Warner thinks he might be too old to continue playing professional football in NFL jersey. Latest reports said that he will hold a news conference Friday to announce whether he will retire from the NFL. Although his agent Mark Bartelstein did not tell reporters whether Warner is more inclined to retire or continue with his NFL career, the decision to hold a conference to make announcement itself just shows enough.

At the age of 38, Warner has led two franchises to the Super Bowl and one to the NFL title. Although he led the Cardinals to an 11-7 season, including a wild playoff victory over the Green Bay Packers, Warner has strongly considered retirement since the beginning of the season, especially after missing a game with a concussion. And failing to win the divisional round against the New Orleans Saints 11 days ago just seemed to make the quarterback believe more that it should be time for him to leave.

There is still one year left in Warner’s current two-year contract with the Cardinals, a part worth about $11.5 million. But Warner has said that he would not care much for the money if he makes mind to retire.

“I don’t want to come back just to get the paycheck or just because I’ve signed that contract if I can’t do everything that I would want to do or if I’m not willing to do everything that I’ve done in the past,” Warner said at the time. “That’s the bottom line.”
