After working with the Philadelphia Eagles for 7 years, as GM since 2006, Tom Heckert eventually chose to leave for a new team, where he may have more space to give better performance. Some kind of deal has been done between him and the Cleveland Browns.
Although the details of Heckert’s contract have not been finalized, it is said that the 42-year-old could join the team as early as Monday. Thus the Browns made a big step in reorganization of the team by finding the replacement for former GM George Kokinis, who was fired in November after Mike Holmgren was hired to be Browns’ new president.
Although losing the chance for playoff because of a 5-11 performance, Coach Eric Mangini still managed to keep his job during the reorganizing process, perhaps because the team ended the season with a four-game winning streak. It seemed like the coach’s strictness with players finally took effect, although a bit late in 2009 season, it just brings hopes for the 2010 season to all those who are still willing to buy Browns jerseys as the team’s faithful fans.
