While talking to his former coach Bill Cowher in prison, Plaxico Burress showed enough remorse to make the ex-Steelers coach and a current studio analyst for The NFL Today on CBS feel moved. Only if he was not in the prison, he could be present at the Super Bowl by himself instead of through a pregame show.
“He looked me in the eye probably more in this interview than in my whole five years of talking to him (in Pittsburgh),” Cowher said Tuesday during a press conference. “It was pretty heartfelt.”
The former NFL wide receiver, who played his last four seasons in the New York Giants jersey and first five seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers, is serving a two-year sentence in New York state after pleading guilty for bringing an unlicensed gun into a New York City nightclub and having it accidentally discharge to wound himself in the leg.
Cowher also told reporters that Burress has had a lot of time to repent for his wrong doings. And fortunate enough to him, he has great family support with his wife. I believe the in-prison experience will make him a more matured man.
