Having been sidelined by a groin injury since the start of training camp, the Miami Dolphins linebacker Matt Roth said Wednesday that he is healthy enough now to play games and the team plans to have him return after the Oct. 25th game against the New Orleans Saints.
Roth is now on the Dolphins’ reserve-non-football injury list and will return as a reserve. Because of the injury, his starting job has been lost to six-time Pro Bowl selection Jason Taylor. But as a reserve, he still has chance to start for the Dolphins in case Taylor had to be sidelined for some reason.
As Roth is preparing for his return, injured running back Patrick Cobbs had to face the end of his season after being placed on injured reserve list with an injury to his left knee. The Dolphins signed running back Kory Sheets off the San Francisco 49ers’ practice squad Wednesday to fill Cobbs’ position. Sheets, the second-leading rusher in Purdue University history, put on 49ers jersey this year as an undrafted free agent and scored three touchdowns during the preseason.
